Ministry and WAMCO Sign MoU to Maintain Heritage Sites

The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage and the Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support the cleaning and maintenance of several heritage sites across the Maldives.

The signing ceremony was held yesterday at WAMCO’s headquarters. The agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary Mohamed Yaniu Hashim on behalf of the ministry, and by Managing Director Mujthaba Jaleel for WAMCO.

Under the MoU, WAMCO will take responsibility for keeping heritage sites located in areas it serves clean and orderly. The corporation will also conduct inspections of selected heritage sites every three months and will provide cleaning and decorative services as needed.

The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage stated that the protection and preservation of the nation’s heritage remains a key government priority. It further noted that the participation of state-owned enterprises such as WAMCO is a significant step in advancing this national goal.
