MV+ News Desk | September 22, 2024

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts has announced a further extension for nominations for this year’s Youth Awards, with the new deadline set for 1400hrs on 26 September.

Originally, the nomination period ran from 9 June to 4 July, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 12 August. Following the postponement of the ceremony, the ministry reopened the nomination window from 10 to 19 September and has now extended it to 1400hrs on 26 September. Submissions will be accepted on official working days from 0830 to 1400hrs. Residents can also submit nominations via email at info@youth.gov.mv.

The Youth Awards, open to individuals aged 18-35, will feature 17 categories this year. These include business and economy, arts and cultural revival, charity work, mental health advocacy, environmental efforts, language revitalisation, sports, fisheries and agriculture, anti-drug initiatives, and vocational training. Two special awards will also be presented: the International Achievement in Sports award and the Shaheed Jawad Umar Memorial Shield.

First held in 2016, the Youth Awards aim to recognise the contributions of young people to national development, encouraging them to become productive and responsible members of society
