Ministry Opens Nominations for Engineering Awards Across 10 Categories

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has introduced the Engineering Award, with recognition to be given to engineers and engineering professionals across 10 categories for their contributions to the development of the Maldives.

The ministry has published the guidelines for the awards and said applications will open soon. The initiative aims to recognise the productivity, achievements and contributions of professionals in the engineering sector, while encouraging young people to pursue engineering education and careers.

The award also aims to promote the development of sustainable and innovative engineering solutions in response to climate change.

The 10 award categories are:

  • Engineer of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Young Engineer Award
  • Women in Engineering Award
  • Engineering Innovation, Technology, Education and Research Award
  • Sustainability Champion Award
  • Engineering Consultant/Consultancy Firm of the Year
  • Student Innovator Award
  • Community Impact Award
  • Contractor of the Year Award

The Young Engineer Award is open to individuals under the age of 30.

Government agencies and institutions, state-owned enterprises, engineering companies and firms, contractors and consultants, project management teams, and academic or research teams will be eligible for team and project awards.

Individual professionals, teams, organisations and institutions providing engineering services in the Maldives can apply for the relevant award categories.

Applicants must complete the designated application form and submit it along with all required documents before the deadline. The nominations will be evaluated by a seven-member committee appointed for the awards.
