Ministry Received 47 Cases of Gender Based Violence

Statistics released by the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services reveal that the Ministry received and attended to a total of 47 cases of domestic violence in the month of May, which included 40 females and seven males.  

Comparatively, the month of April saw 43 cases of domestic violence. 

Last month, the most commonly reported form of domestic violence was emotional abuse / verbal abuse, with 22 cases documented during the month. 

During last month, there were 16 cases of physical abuse, two cases of rape, two cases of intimidating, one case of sexual violence, one case of sexual harrasment, one case of controlling behaviour, one case of economic and financial abuse, one case of damage to property.

Last month, the Gender Ministry attended to a total of 306 cases which involved violence against children, family issues, domestic violence… etc.
