MMA Opens Applications for Research Fund Grants

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has officially opened applications for the MMA Research Fund, inviting researchers and authors to submit proposals for financial support across two primary streams.
The central bank announced that applicants can seek funding under the Independent Research Grant and Book Grant categories. The initiative aims to support academic and policy-oriented research projects relevant to the Maldivian economy and financial sector.

The MMA Research Fund is a financial grant program established on 14 December 2024, backed by a national pool of MVR 1 million. The fund covers critical project costs such as data collection, fieldwork, research assistance, and publication. It serves as a direct bridge between academic institutions, independent scholars, and central bank policymakers.
Through this initiative, MMA aims to build a robust domestic research ecosystem that generates evidence-based insights for the Maldivian economy. By funding independent research and authors, the central bank seeks to strengthen evidence-based decision-making in monetary policy, financial stability, digital finance, and climate resilience. It also aims to expand public economic literacy by supporting accessible literature written in both English and Dhivehi.
