Mohamed Afeef Hussain Appointed Fenaka MD, Third to Hold Post This Presidential Term
Newly appointed Fenaka Corporation MD Mohamed Afeef Hussain.
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed Mohamed Afeef Hussain as Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited, marking the third leadership change at the state utility during the current administration.
In a decision effective from today, Afeef was also appointed to Fenaka’s Board of Directors, the PCB said.
He replaces former Managing Director Major (Retd) Mohamed Najjah, who was dismissed on 6 April after being appointed on 23 December 2024. The PCB did not provide a reason for Najjah’s dismissal, but he was removed during a period when the government faced heavy criticism for failing to resolve electricity issues in Addu and over alleged mismanagement of the company.

Prior to Najah, Muaz Mohamed held the post but stepped down on 28 December 2024, citing a lack of a clear path to improve the company’s situation.
The latest appointment underscores continued instability in Fenaka’s top leadership, with three managing directors holding office within just over a year.
