Moms Aid has launched its annual Ramadan Aid campaign, with the aim of supporting 300 families in need across the Maldives during the upcoming holy month.

The organisation, which has been assisting vulnerable households since 2019, said the campaign focuses on providing relief, hope and social security to families facing financial hardship. A central part of the initiative is the distribution of care baskets, which are essential food packs valued at MVR 1,200 and prepared according to Ramadan dietary needs to help families meet their basic requirements throughout the month.

The campaign also allows members of the public to sponsor iftar packs at a cost of MVR 75 each, enabling families to access nutritious meals when breaking the fast. Moms Aid stated that the Ramadan Aid initiative has grown over the years into a broader community effort that goes beyond food assistance by fostering solidarity and supporting families dealing with long-term economic challenges.

Beneficiaries are selected through a verification process to ensure assistance reaches those most in need. Moms Aid said the campaign is now open for public participation and encouraged individuals, groups and institutions to contribute, noting that all donations will be used directly to prepare care baskets and meet essential needs during Ramadan.

The organisation added that even small contributions can make a meaningful difference and urged public support to ensure no family is left without assistance this Ramadan.
