Key stakeholders in the project include Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL), Maldives State Shipping (MSS), and the Maldives Customs Service. Through its designated Maldivian agent Expedite Maldives, Turkish Airlines serves as a cargo partner in the new venture. MSS acts as a carrier partner, while MACL will collaborate with MPL to streamline the Sea-to-Air Cargo Transshipment process.
The primary goal of the Sea to Air service is to speed up the transportation process, providing a more efficient alternative to traditional sea routes, which are typically slower. By leveraging the Maldives’ geographic location and port infrastructure, the service aims to enhance the speed and reliability of freight movements across the region.
MPL formally launched its Sea-to-Air Cargo Transshipment services on March 15th. This hybrid model, developed in conjunction with MACL and international airlines, aims to streamline commercial operations. A significant advantage of the service is the anticipated increase in flights to various destinations, facilitating expedited exports of goods.
