The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the sheet pile installation works under Phase 1 of the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project.

In a social media update on Sunday, MTCC said sheet pile installation has now reached 100 percent completion.

The company said Aggregate Base Course (ABC) laying is currently underway in Segments 4 and 5 following the completion of sub-base works. Asphalt paving is scheduled to begin tomorrow.

MTCC also said final quay wall capping concrete works will be carried out this week as the project continues to progress.

Earlier, the company announced that all utility works under Phase 1 had been completed. These included the installation of sewer lines, water pipe connections, stormwater catchpits and cable junctions.

Subgrading works are also continuing, with construction progressing in Segments 2 and 3 after the completion of Segments 4 and 5.

MTCC previously said asphalt-laying equipment would be mobilised ahead of the paving works and that the section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu between the Henveyru Ferry Terminal and the entrance to the Carnival parking area would be temporarily closed while asphalt is laid.

The Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project forms part of wider efforts to upgrade the capital’s waterfront road network and associated infrastructure.
