Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb is currently facing a severe neurological illness, according to a statement released by the Maldives Thirdway Democrats (MTD).

In a tweet, the MTD conveyed that Adeeb is presently receiving medical care at the IGMH (Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital) and undergoing a series of tests to determine the nature and extent of his condition.

The MTD further revealed that Adeeb’s diagnosis of the neurological disease came subsequent to his transfer to house arrest following a three-year period of imprisonment.

Adeeb was admitted to the IGMH last night, where his condition is reported to have improved compared to earlier.

Previously, Prosecutor General’s Office (PG Office) has filed 7 charges at the Criminal Court against former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb over the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
