Muizzu Awards Highest Honour for Service to Maldivian Nationalism

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has awarded the Highest Honour for Service to Maldivian Nationalism to the late Hussain Salahuddin. 

The honour was presented during a ceremony at Dharubaaruge this morning, in observance of National Day.

The decision to honour Hussain Salahuddin was made in recognition of his significant contributions to the nation’s core values, including religion, language, heritage, and culture. His efforts to advance Maldivian thought and knowledge, particularly through his literary work, were highlighted as exemplary. The award includes a shield of honour.

This accolade is the highest given by the President to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Maldivian nationalism. The honour is bestowed in accordance with the President’s legal authority.

The late Hussain Salahuddin, renowned as a pioneering poet in Maldivian history, was also celebrated for his dedication to upholding nationalistic values. His contributions include a notable biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), demonstrating his expertise in both Dhivehi and Arabic.

In addition to the Highest Honour, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu presented the National Award of Honour to seven individuals and the National Award of Recognition to ten individuals and one company. The awards were announced during Wednesday’s National Day ceremony.

Recipients of the National Award of Honour received commemorative shields and badges, while those honoured with the National Award of Recognition were given commemorative plaques. The awards were determined by a National Awards Committee appointed by the President.

The National Award of Honour was presented to:

  • The Late Mohamed Thaufeeq: for significant contributions to the nation.
  • Dr Abdul Azeez Yoosuf: for outstanding work in the health sector.
  • Mohamed Majid: for contributions to the development of small and medium enterprises.
  • Moosa Latheef: for contributions to media and news.
  • Mohamed Nasir: for achievements in the sporting sector.
  • Ahmed Mohamed: for contributions to sports.
  • Hassan Manik: for contributions to the performing arts.
  • Recipients of the National Award of Recognition included:
  • Qari Ahmed Ibrahim: for promoting Quranic studies.
  • Usthaz Abdul Rahman Yoonus: for promoting Quranic studies.
  • Sheikh Izzuddin Adnan: for educating the public on Islam and Islamic values.
  • Sheikh Ahmed Maumoon: for educating the public on Islam and Islamic values.
  • Ismail Sajid: for training and developing technical skills.
  • Ibrahim Thahkhaan: for enhancing pole and line fishing.
  • Riyan Pvt Ltd: for advancing the business sector.
  • Amir Mansoor: for introducing innovative market services and products.
  • Abdul Rahman Yoosuf: for contributions to boat and yacht building.
  • Fathimath Umar: for training in culinary arts.
  • Hussain Ali: for promoting volunteer work among youth.

In his address, the President congratulated all recipients, noting that these awards are presented annually to recognise individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to national development and societal improvement.
