Muizzu Highlights Potential for Increased Saudi Investment in Maldives

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has highlighted opportunities for increased Saudi investment and development partnerships in the Maldives, with a focus on key sectors of the Maldivian economy.

Speaking at a reception marking Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day at Niyaama Private Islands Maldives last night, Muizzu said the two countries could expand cooperation in tourism, infrastructure, housing, healthcare, fisheries, renewable energy and logistics.

The President reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening its investment environment and facilitating greater participation by Saudi businesses in the country’s economic development.

Muizzu also expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s development assistance to the Maldives over the years, including financial and humanitarian support following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

He said the Maldives is ready to continue working closely with Saudi Arabia at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

The President also highlighted continued cooperation between the two countries on regional peace, stability and prosperity, as well as challenges facing the Muslim world.
