Muizzu Meets Sri Lankan President After Appointment to Office

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives and his Sri Lankan counterpart, President Ranil Wickremesinghe, convened in Kurumba Maldives to discuss and bolster the longstanding bilateral relations between their nations.
The meeting, held yesterday evening, provided an opportunity for President Dr Muizzu to express his gratitude and extend a warm welcome to President Wickremesinghe for attending the Maldivian Presidential Inauguration.
President Wickremesinghe, in turn, congratulated President Dr Muizzu on assuming office. The leaders engaged in discussions aimed at further strengthening the relations between their countries, shedding light on various issues of mutual interest.
Among the topics addressed during the meeting were educational initiatives, the possibility of implementing multiple visa entry for students under 18, and collaborative efforts in economic recovery. Both leaders highlighted the importance of fostering cooperation in these areas to enhance the overall relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
President Wickremesinghe extended a formal invitation to President Dr Muizzu to make a state visit to Sri Lanka at his earliest convenience with President Muizzu accepting the invitation.
