Muizzu Orders Flag Flown at Half-mast for Three Days Following Demise of Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Nawaf

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu issued a directive (No. 17/2023) yesterday, declaring that the national flag would be flown at half-mast for three days, from Sunday, December 17, 2023, to Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in mourning for Kuwait’s late Amir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah.

Muizzu sent a message of condolence to the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber, on the passing of H.H. Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the late Amir of the State of Kuwait, yesterday.

The President’s message stated that it was with great sadness and deep sorrow that he learned of the passing of the late Amir of the State of Kuwait. He described the late Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a visionary leader who demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to Kuwait and its citizens and stated that his legacy of strong leadership, compassion, and service will no doubt be remembered fondly in the history of Kuwait’s progress.

His message also stated that the State of Kuwait remains a close partner of the Maldives and that the relationship between the two countries is characterised by mutual trust and respect, peace and prosperity, and warm brotherly relations. He added that the Government and people of the Maldives join him in offering sincere condolences to the people of Kuwait on the loss of a great leader.
