The Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has announced the commissioning of water and sewerage services for all 4,000 flats developed by the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) under the former administration’s Gedhoruveriya housing scheme.

MWSC stated that the installation, testing and commissioning of water and sewerage connections have been successfully completed across all flats. The company also confirmed that the water boosting system required to support the housing units has been fully commissioned, enabling the commencement of water and sewerage services to all apartments.

The update comes amid mounting public complaints over delays in the handover of the FDC-developed flats, which have remained unoccupied despite construction being completed.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has previously pledged that the keys to all Gedhoruveriya flats will be handed over before the start of the next academic year. The new academic year is scheduled to begin on 27 January.
