The National Centre for Mental Health (NCMH) at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in the Maldives is preparing to host the pioneering Oevaru conference on mental health, and researchers are invited to submit abstracts for the conference.

This event, scheduled for October 15-16, 2023, will mark the first of its kind in the Maldives, aiming to bring together mental health professionals, researchers, academics, students, public health experts, policymakers, and individuals with lived experiences of mental illnesses, both locally and internationally.

The primary goal is to facilitate the exchange of research findings, fostering an open and comprehensive public discussion on mental health issues.

Named “Oevaru 2023: Changing Currents: Forming Connections,” the conference revolves around the overarching theme of forming connections amidst the ever-evolving landscape of mental health. The organizers of Oevaru 2023 have outlined four interdisciplinary themes as focal points for potential submissions, inviting diverse perspectives and encompassing the breadth of the mental health community.

To accommodate interested participants, the organizers have extended the abstract submission deadline to 17th August 2023, allowing ample time for preparation. Authors will be notified of the selection outcome by 30th August 2023.

As the conference approaches, prospective attendees are advised to complete their conference registration by 30th September 2023 to secure their participation in this momentous event.

To enrich the conference experience further, pre-conference workshops will be held on 14th October 2023, providing participants with an opportunity to delve deeper into specific aspects of mental health and expand their knowledge.
