Nine-Year-Old Girl in Serious Condition Following Hulhumalé Motorcycle Accident

A nine-year-old girl is in serious condition after a motorcycle carrying her and an 18-year-old woman collided with a pedestrian in Hulhumalé on last night.
Police said they received a report of the accident near Vinares 7 on Hithigas Magu, Hulhumalé Phase 2, at around 9:04pm on last night.
According to CCTV footage reviewed by police, the motorcycle was travelling along Hithigas Magu when it struck a pedestrian walking along the roadside while attempting to enter a car parked near Vinares 7.
The 18-year-old female motorcycle rider and the nine-year-old girl, who was travelling as a passenger, were injured in the crash. Both were taken to Hulhumalé Hospital, where the hospital reported that the child’s condition is serious.
Police said the motorcycle was being operated by a person holding a valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle category.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
