No Active Measles Cases in Maldives, says Health Minister
With two new cases reported last week, the total number of measles cases recorded across the Maldives has risen to 24.
Health Minister Geela Ali has said there are currently no active measles cases in the Maldives, following a recent increase in reported infections.
Speaking on the Ahaashey Bunaanan programme by state media last night, the minister said the measles situation is now under control and that vaccination remains the key measure in preventing further infections.

More than 16,000 people have been vaccinated during the latest measles vaccination campaign, the minister said.
The latest Health Protection Agency (HPA) update, issued on 21 August, recorded 17 new measles cases in the Greater Malé region over the preceding week, bringing the total number of cases reported nationwide this year to 243.
HPA said that 16,045 people had been vaccinated against measles as of 21 August.
The agency has advised people who are unsure whether they have received the required two doses of the measles vaccine to visit a designated vaccination centre.
The Maldives had previously eliminated measles, but cases have continued to be reported intermittently. HPA launched a response after the first case was detected, in line with World Health Organization standards.
