Older Man Arrested in Inguraidhoo on Suspicion of Drug Possession and Sale

A 62-year-old man has been arrested from R. Inguraidhoo in connection with a drug-related case, police have confirmed.
The individual, identified as Ali Shareef, holding Malé Registry No. 2689, was taken into custody on 14 May during a police operation following reports that he was allegedly in possession of illegal substances and selling them on the island.

Officers from the Inguraidhoo Police Station detained Shareef and conducted a search, during which four cellophane packages suspected to contain drugs were recovered. He was subsequently presented before the court, which ordered that he be held in judicial custody for a period of 10 days.
Police have stated that the investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
