Ooredoo Maldives, in collaboration with Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives (MMWM), has officially announced the return of the 3rd Annual Migrant Workers’ Cricket Carnival. Following the success of the previous two editions, the event is scheduled for December 1, 2023. The partnership highlights Ooredoo Maldives and MMWM’s dedication to community engagement and the celebration of camaraderie through cricket. Participants and spectators can anticipate another day of sportsmanship and unity at this much-anticipated event.
MMWM extends its sincere gratitude to Ooredoo Maldives for their unwavering support, again serving as the primary partner for this year’s cricket carnival. MMWM is also delighted to welcome Urbanco and the Maldives Cricket Board as additional partners alongside their health and legal awareness camp collaborators.
The event is set to kick off tentatively on December 1, 2023, and registration is now open. Prospective participants can register through their social media platforms and websites or by completing the application form https://forms.gle/xWyMTq6SSf4C5jnEA and emailing it to mmwmaldives@gmail.com.
Like the previous year’s carnival, MMWM is committed to offering free medical screenings and legal aid to migrant workers throughout the event. Past Health Camp partners include the World Health Organization (WHO) Maldives, the Society for Health Education (SHE), Medicos, the Health Protection Agency (HPA), and Life Support. Additionally, Legal and Awareness Camp partners include Transparency Maldives (TM), the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM).
MMWM also acknowledges the invaluable support from Ace Travels Maldives, Happy Market, Maldivian Red Crescent, and One Online for their contributions in sponsoring the winner’s award, providing beverages, first aid assistance, and media & photography services, respectively.
This year, MMWM is expanding the carnival, accommodating 40 teams and introducing additional stalls for food and entertainment to create a truly celebratory atmosphere for everyone involved.
As an organisation dedicated to advocating for the rights of migrant workers, the cricket carnival serves as a cornerstone in including the migrant community in their anniversary celebrations.
