More than 100 plots of land have been handed over under the Hulhumalé Phase 3 development, according to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.
The land transfer process began on 26 March, with authorities proceeding with agreement signings and registry handovers to recipients. A total of 698 plots have been allocated under the project, with 451 recipients having signed their agreements to date. Of these, 125 plots have been officially demarcated and handed over to their owners.
The development follows earlier allocations under the Binveriya scheme introduced by the previous administration, where land was designated prior to reclamation. The current government has since reclaimed 63 hectares of land in Hulhumalé Phase 3 to support the project.
The development comprises seven different plot sizes, including 181 plots of 1,650 square feet, 242 plots of 2,050 square feet, 132 plots of 2,450 square feet, 62 plots of 2,850 square feet, 41 plots of 3,250 square feet, 16 plots of 3,650 square feet, and 24 plots of 4,000 square feet.
The allocation of plots was determined through a lottery held on 20 December.
The ministry stated that the process of handing over land and completing documentation for recipients remains ongoing.
