Parliament Approves Eight Nominations for Foreign Service

The parliament has approved eight names put forward by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to serve various positions in the foreign service for eight countries.

The parliament’s foreign relations committee approved the following:

  1. Mohamed Hussain Shareef as Ambassador to United Arab Emirates
  2. Dr. Iruthishaam Adam as Ambassador to United Kingdom
  3. Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed as permanent representative to the United Nations
  4. Massood Imad as Ambassador to the Sri Lanka
  5. Dr Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed as Ambassador to Malaysia
  6. Geela Ali as Ambassador to Belgium
  7. Dr Salma Rasheed as Permanent Representative to UN Offices in Geneva
  8. Mohamed Luwaiz as Ambassador to Singapore

The committee has delayed approval of two names put forward by the President citing delays in resume checks through the court. They are Dr. Fazeel Najeeb nominated as Ambassador to China and Shiuneen Rasheed nominated as Ambassador to Bangladesh.
