Parliamentary Delegation Departs for 69th CPC in South Africa

A delegation from the People’s Majlis has departed for Cape Town, South Africa, to attend the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.

The Parliament of South Africa and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association South Africa Branch are co-hosting the week-long event, which runs from 13 to 19 September 2026.

According to the People’s Majilis, the annual conference brings together parliamentarians and parliamentary officials from across the Commonwealth to address key issues surrounding parliamentary democracy, international law, and global governance.

Four Members of Parliament represent the Maldives at the summit: Dr Anara Naeem, MP for Huraa Constituency; Ahmed Nazim, MP for Dhiggaru Constituency and CPA Asia Regional Representative; Ahmed Azaan Marzooq, MP for Central Hithadhoo Constituency; and Mohamed Ibrahim, MP for North Galolhu Constituency.

Secretary General Fathimath Niusha and Senior Foreign Relations Officer Aishath Eeman from the Secretariat of the People’s Majlis accompany the MPs to support the delegation during panel discussions and inter-parliamentary proceedings.
