Police Constable Advised for Removal Following Drug Operation

A Maldives Police Service constable has been suspended and recommended for removal following her arrest during a drug operation in Kaafu Atoll Thulusdhoo earlier this month.
Police confirmed that Constable Aminath Maya Hussain Basheer was among seven people arrested during an operation conducted on 17 October, after authorities received information about the alleged consumption and sale of alcohol at a local guesthouse.
According to the police, those arrested included three men aged 23, one man aged 27, and three women aged 20, 23, and 26, all Maldivian nationals.
During the operation, officers discovered two 500ml bottles and a glass containing liquid suspected to be alcohol at the guesthouse. Police said the individuals were released without being taken to court. They did not share the reason.
Police also confirmed that urine analysis results for those arrested tested negative.
The Police Disciplinary Board has since advised Constable Aminath Maya Hussain Basheer’s removal from the service in connection with the incident.
