Police Identify Man Killed in Boduthakurufaanu Magu Accident

Police have identified the man who died in a road incident near Dharubaaruge on Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé on Sunday and said preliminary findings indicate he became trapped beneath a trailer lorry for reasons other than a direct collision with the vehicle.

The accident involving a motorcycle and a lorry was reported to the Maldives Police Service at approximately 3:57 p.m. yesterday. Police initially said the injured individual had already died by the time he was brought to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), citing medical staff of the hospital.

In an update issued later, police identified the deceased as Ibrahim Nasih, 39, of Hulhumale Plot No. 20054 (Greenpeak), Malé.

According to the preliminary investigation, Nasih died after becoming trapped beneath a trailer lorry, said the police. They said current findings suggest he ended up under the vehicle due to a reason other than a direct collision with it. 

Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation and that further information will be shared as it becomes available.
