Police Recover Over MVR 619,000 From Theft and Robbery Cases

The Maldives Police Service has recovered a total of MVR 619,048 in connection with multiple theft and robbery cases reported in Malé and Hulhumalé.

The recovered amount includes both cash and the estimated market value of stolen property retrieved through investigations conducted across several cases.

According to police statistics, MVR 335,338 was recovered from various locations in Malé between 15 April and 21 April. The recoveries were attributed to operations carried out by police teams in Galolhu, Henveiru, and Maafannu.

In Hulhumalé, policing teams operating in Phase I and Phase II recovered a further MVR 283,710 through efforts targeting crime in those areas.

Police stated that investigations remain ongoing, with efforts continuing to return recovered funds and items to their rightful owners.

Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard personal belongings, following a recent increase in theft and robbery incidents.
