Maldives Police Service has recovered stolen goods valued at approximately MVR 130,000 in connection with two separate incidents reported in Milandhoo over the weekend.
Police reported that a residential burglary in Milandhoo was filed on Saturday, involving the theft of multiple high-value items. These included a 60-inch Skyworth television, a 65-inch TCL television, a Gucci Flora perfume valued at USD 240, equivalent to approximately MVR 3,708, and several additional perfumes estimated at around MVR 6,000. All stolen items were later recovered and returned to the owner.
Two individuals were arrested in connection with the burglary on Tuesday. They were identified as Ahmed Azeem, 34, and Mohamed Shifau, 29, both residents of Milandhoo. The court ordered that the suspects be remanded in custody for 10 days.
In a separate case reported on Sunday, theft involving outboard engine components took place at a garage in Milandhoo. The items stolen included a Yamaha outboard gearbox and its attached propeller, with an estimated value exceeding MVR 120,000.
Police investigations established that the stolen components had been sold to the captain of a vessel anchored in the Milandhoo lagoon at approximately 14:30 on the same day. The items were reportedly sold for MVR 2,500. Officers later conducted a search of the vessel and recovered the components concealed within the engine room bilge.
Both cases remain under further investigation by the authorities.
