Police Rescue Tourist Swept Away While Snorkelling in Kaafu Atoll

A Chinese tourist who drifted away while snorkelling at a resort in Kaafu Atoll was rescued by police yesterday.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 2:26 pm when the police launch Launch 54, which was on an official trip from Malé to Dhaalu Atoll Vaanee, spotted a man floating in the sea.

Police identified the man as a Chinese tourist staying at a resort in Kaafu Atoll. He had reportedly been swept nearly one mile away from the resort while snorkelling.

Officers immediately recovered the tourist from the water and administered first aid before transporting him safely back to the resort.

Police said the tourist was in good health when he was returned to the resort.
