Portion of Boduthakurufaanu Magu West Park Area Closed for Phase Three Roadworks

One side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in the West Park area has been closed as preparations began for Phase three of the major Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced that one side of the road would remain closed to facilitate construction works, while the remaining side would stay open to general traffic.

Road users have been advised to exercise caution and follow temporary traffic arrangements in the area.

The closure marks the latest stage of the wider redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, one of Malé’s main arterial roads. The project includes road widening, improvements to drainage infrastructure and upgrades to utility networks.

MTCC is carrying out the works under a contract awarded by the Construction Ministry. Earlier phases of the project were carried out under a contract valued at MVR 144.5 million.

The first phase of the project covered five sections of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, extending from the Presidential Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal. Work on Phase Two commenced in late December 2025 and asphalt paving was completed in mid-February 2026, opening the market sector to traffic ahead of Ramadan. Completion of Phase Two paved the way for construction crews to move west towards the West Park area of Male.
