President Declares August 30 as ‘Maldives Engineers’ Day’

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has proclaimed August 30 as ‘Maldives Engineers’ Day’, to be celebrated annually and nationwide.
In a statement released by the President’s Office today, the President underscored the significance of the date, noting it coincides with the inauguration of the Sinamalé Bridge, the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in the Maldives. The bridge was officially opened on August 30, a milestone considered emblematic of the achievements and contributions of engineers in the country.
The statement described August 30 as “the most suitable day of the month” to commemorate the work of Maldivian engineers and their vital role in national development.
The President’s Office further announced that the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has been assigned to coordinate and oversee all events and initiatives related to the observance of Maldives Engineers’ Day.
