President Muizzu Set To Visit India
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is expected to make an official visit to India “very soon,” the President’s Office announced today.
The visit is currently under discussion, with officials from both countries working to determine the most suitable date.
During a press conference, the President’s spokesperson, Heena Waleedh, confirmed that preparations for the visit are underway.
The planned visit comes after the resignation of two senior Maldivian ministers earlier today, following derogatory comments they had made earlier this year regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Relations between the Maldives and India have been under strain since the incident.
However, President Muizzu visited New Delhi in June to attend Prime Minister Modi’s inauguration for his third term in office.
