President Unveils Plans for More Housing Projects and Improve Wage for MNDF

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced the government’s initiatives aimed at increasing housing projects and improving wage structure for the armed forces. The President shared these plans during his speech at the commemoration of the 131st anniversary of the armed forces.

Accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Minister of Defense Mariya Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defense Forces Major General Abdulla Shamal, and other high-ranking officials and officers of the armed forces, President Solih addressed the audience at the Kalhuthuhkala Koshi event.

In his address, President Solih disclosed that the administration intends to construct 138 new housing units specifically designed for servicemen and servicewomen. Furthermore, he revealed that this year, the government would initiate a tender process for the development of accommodation blocks capable of housing 480 and 100 individuals respectively, at Kalhuthuhkala Koshi.

The President also emphasized that the armed forces’ salaries and allowances would undergo positive adjustments following the successful completion of the administration’s efforts to streamline and standardize pay rates.

During the ceremony, President Solih honored four retired generals and other outstanding servicemen and servicewomen with medals for their exceptional contributions to the armed forces. It is noteworthy that the military was established on April 21, 1892, during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim Nooraddin Siree Sundura Kaththiri Bavana Mahaaradhun.
