President’s Office Opens Applications for Elections Commission Member

The President’s Office has opened applications for a vacancy on the Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM).
The vacancy follows the resignation of its then President Mohamed Zahid, who had resigned from both the presidency and his position as a member of the Commission, on May 1. The Commission did not provide a reason for his resignation.
The President’s Office will accept applications and supporting documents on working days between 08:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The deadline for submission is 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
Application forms are available at the President’s Office reception and can also be downloaded from the official website.
The ECM consists of five members. The current members are Vice President Abdul Rahman Salah Rasheed and members Hassan Zakariyya, Abdul Haseeb Ismail, and Al-Ustadh Rifaath Abdullah.
The position of President of the Commission will be filled after the President appoints a candidate approved by Parliament.
