A manager from the Road Development Corporation (RDC) faces legal action following a police raid at the RDC office and his residence initiated by law enforcement yesterday.
Local Media reported that the Maldives Police Service (MPS) searched the RDC office yesterday morning.
During the search of his residence, MPS discovered an empty bottle of liquor and various substances believed to be drugs in the manager’s possession. During the search of the RDC office building, MPS walked away with a number of documents.
However, MPS has refrained from making official comments on the matter thus far.
The move came in response to information provided by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Financial Intelligence, which alerted the police to substantial sums of money in the personal accounts of some RDC employees.
Amidst the unfolding situation, RDC Managing Director Moosa Ali Manik, commonly known as Mookey, downplayed the incident in the MDP National Assembly WhatsApp group. He asserted that nothing significant had occurred and suggested that the police presence at the office was an attempt to “make headlines.”
Furthermore, he voiced criticism against Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed.
