The public has been invited to register for the first sessions of Rayyithunge Adu, a nationwide initiative designed to strengthen direct engagement between President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and citizens.

The President’s Office announced that registration is now open for residents of four constituencies: Hulhumalé North, Hulhumalé Central, Hulhudhoo and Hoarafushi. The sessions mark the start of a programme that will eventually cover all 93 electoral constituencies across the Maldives.

Residents wishing to participate can register through the dedicated portal on the President’s Office website, where the programme guidelines are also available. Registration will close at midnight on Wednesday, 15 July.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced the initiative on 25 June, describing it as an opportunity for citizens from individual constituencies to meet with him directly and raise concerns, suggestions and issues affecting their communities.

The initiative follows the launch of the ‘Rayyithunge Adu’ portal in February 2024 during the ‘Ahaa’ forum held at Sultan Park. The platform was introduced to allow citizens to directly share their concerns, feedback and suggestions with the President, as part of the administration’s commitment to increasing public participation.

The portal was first announced during President Muizzu’s Presidential Address on 5 February 2024. At its launch, President Muizzu said maintaining close engagement with citizens was essential for effective governance, while stressing the importance of building a transparent and accountable administration. He encouraged the public to use the platform to communicate their views and raise issues of concern.
