Ooredoo Maldives has opened registrations for Ooredoo Masrace 2026, the company’s annual fishing competition organised in partnership with the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources.

Registrations opened on 14 July and will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on 21 July. Teams consisting of 12 members, including the captain and officials, can register online.

This year’s competition will feature a total prize pool of MVR 43,000.

The winning team will receive MVR 25,000, while the second and third-placed teams will be awarded MVR 10,000 and MVR 5,000, respectively.

Individual awards will also be presented, with prizes of MVR 1,000 each for the Best Fisherman, Best Fisherwoman, and the participant with the Biggest Catch.

Ooredoo described Masrace as more than a sporting competition, saying it serves as a community event that celebrates Maldivian fishing traditions and brings together families, friends and fishing enthusiasts.

The company said the event is open to teams representing government institutions, corporate organisations and the wider public, with this year’s edition aiming to promote both competition and cultural unity.
