Renowned Public Servant Abdulla Jameel Laid to Rest

Abdulla Jameel, a long-serving public employee honoured with the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I.), was laid to rest yesterday afternoon after a state funeral. He passed away yesterday morning. He was 87.
The funeral prayers for the late Jameel were held after the Asr prayers. He was laid to rest at the Galolhu cemetery with full honours. The national flag draped on his casket was presented to his son, Mauroof Jameel.
The funeral prayer for the late Jameel was held at Masjid al-Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu al-Auzam. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem, family members of the late Jameel, cabinet ministers, and other dignitaries attended the Janazah at the Islamic Centre.

President to Open Book of Condolences
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih decided today that a book of condolences would be inaugurated in recognition of the passing of the late Abdulla Jameel.
The late Abdulla Jameel dedicated a significant portion of his 54-year career to the President’s Office. In his honour, the President decided to place the condolence book in the President’s Office. Visitors may sign the book between Tuesday, June 13, 2023, and Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Arrangements would be made to facilitate the signing process.
The late Jameel served in the President’s Office for over 14 years. He held several positions, including Private Secretary to the President, Executive Secretary to the President, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, and Minister at the President’s Office.
