Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Heena Waleed said the event was organised to foster unity and friendship while providing an opportunity for people to spend time together in a positive environment. She also said the initiative was intended to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle.

The minister encouraged those who were unable to run to participate by walking, noting that physical activity is beneficial for everyone.

Many participants said they enjoyed taking part in the event with family and friends and welcomed the organisation of similar activities during future national celebrations.

All participants received a commemorative badge upon completing the run. WeRun Maldives said it plans to expand the event to other cities next year.
