Search Continues for Two Individuals Missing After Landing Craft Capsizes
The landing craft was travelling from K. Thilafushi towards Gaafaru when it began taking on water and sank on Friday. There were 10 people on board, including two Maldivians and eight foreign nationals.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has searched 2,747 square nautical miles by sea and air for two Indian nationals who remain missing after a landing craft capsized and sank near Gaafaru in Kaafu Atoll on Friday.
The MNDF said its Coast Guard and Air Corps have conducted extensive search operations for the two missing individuals, while Coast Guard divers have also searched the site where the landing craft sank.

Fast Interceptor Craft and the recently commissioned vessel Imaduddin have been deployed in the ongoing search, according to the military.

Eight people survived the incident and were brought to Gaafaru on Friday. Police confirmed that the two people still missing are foreign nationals.
The incident occurred amid rough weather affecting large parts of the Maldives during the ongoing Southwest monsoon.
MNDF said the Coast Guard remains actively engaged in efforts to locate the two missing individuals.
