Second Term Begins After 16-Day School Holiday

Schools across the Maldives resumed classes for the second term today following a 16-day holiday after the completion of the first term.

Students began their break after concluding first-term studies on July 16, with the second term now set to continue until December 17.

The academic calendar provides for a 30-day main annual holiday from December 18 to January 16, after which classes for the new academic year will begin on January 17.

More than 77,000 students are enrolled across around 218 government schools this academic year.

A total of 4,790 students were allocated Grade 1 places in schools across the country for the new academic year. Of these, 1,748 students received places in schools in the Malé region, while 3,042 were allocated places in schools across the atolls.
