Six Expats Arrested in Male’ Over Alleged Liquor Possession and Consumption

Six expatriates have been arrested in Male’ for allegedly possessing and consuming liquor, police reported.

The arrests took place during a joint operation by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement units on Sunday. Police conducted searches at a café and a residence in the Maafannu area, seizing 21 bottles of suspected liquor, each with a capacity of 500ml.
The suspects include five Nepalese men and one Nepalese woman, identified as Chaudhary Srendra, 43; Suganda Kumar Chaudhary, 28; Chaudhary, 24; Makar Bahadhur Taman, 27; Bishwanath Chaudhary, 37; and Ramri Maya Vaiba.
The individuals have been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.
