SJ Mall donated sewing machines and fabric on last Thursday to kickstart Salaahudheen School’s vocational training programme for special-needs students.
Zaheena Abdulla, Deputy Principal of Salaahudheen School, told MV+ that SJ Mall donated four sewing machines, fabric, and furniture to the school. The school plans to start teaching sewing skills to its special-needs students and later introduce cooking and baking skills as well.
“I am very thankful to SJ Mall for their swift response to our request,” Zaheena said in Dhivehi.
She said they sent a proposal to SJ Mall detailing their plans, and the company complied with their request within two weeks.
The school, located in Hulhumale’s Phase 2, currently has 213 special needs students enrolled. She said the vocational training would be rolled out to students in grades four and above.
SJ Mall will make an additional donation as well, Zaheena said. She said the company assured the school they would soon provide them with the material for the cooking corner as well.
