Spanish Tourist Loses Leg in Shark Attack Near Kooddoo

A Spanish tourist has suffered severe injuries, including the loss of a leg, following a shark attack near GA. Kooddoo earlier this week.

Police said the incident was reported in the afternoon of 11 April, after the male tourist was attacked while swimming in the area.

The victim was initially treated in the intensive care unit of Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital before being transferred to Malé for further medical treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the tourist sustained serious injuries to both legs, with doctors forced to amputate one leg due to the extent of the trauma.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, while also assisting the victim and completing necessary procedures related to the case.
