The company said it will seek to recover all expenses incurred in resolving cable damage and restoring power services from parties whose negligence causes such incidents.

STELCO urged organisations and contractors carrying out road excavation works to plan and conduct their activities responsibly to prevent damage to its electricity network.

The company said the measure is aimed at reducing disruptions to electricity services and maintaining service quality.

Various parties carry out roadworks for purposes including laying new cables and construction, often working around existing underground power lines. Accidental damage to these buried cables can disrupt electricity supplies to connected households and businesses.
