The President’s Office Launches The Pulse Podcast Series to Address Public Concerns
The President’s Office has launched a new podcast series, The Pulse, to address issues of public interest and strengthen engagement with citizens on key social matters.
The first episode was released this afternoon across the President’s Office media platforms. According to the president’s office, the series aims to provide insight into President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s views on key national issues while creating a platform to address public concerns and questions.
The President’s Office stated that the government’s chief spokesperson, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, will facilitate discussions in the podcast and respond to questions raised by participating journalists.
Coinciding with World Environment Day, the inaugural episode focused on environmental issues. Stated by the president’s office, each episode of The Pulse will centre on a specific topic and highlight public concerns, perspectives, and questions related to that subject.
During the first episode, President Dr. Muizzu addressed concerns raised by members of the public regarding environmental challenges in the Maldives, including coastal erosion linked to changing weather patterns, persistent waste management issues, and the environmental impacts of land reclamation and development projects.
The president said that although the Maldives remains among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, it continues to demonstrate leadership on environmental issues. He reiterated that environmental protection remains a key pillar of the government’s development agenda and stressed the importance of balancing development with environmental sustainability.
The president also highlighted initiatives aimed at expanding green spaces across the country, including the Five Million Trees Programme. He encouraged citizens to participate in the initiative and contribute to creating a greener Maldives.
The second segment of the episode featured an interview conducted by Vaguthu journalist Yameen Mohamed. During the discussion, the president answered questions on environmental issues and outlined measures being implemented to strengthen environmental protection and sustainability efforts.
According to the president’s office, the second segment of The Pulse will provide a weekly opportunity for responsible, registered media organisations to engage directly with the president. Media outlets will participate on a rotational basis and conduct question-and-answer sessions focused on each episode’s selected topic.
Introducing the series, Chief Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef said, “The Pulse serves as a dedicated platform through which public concerns, ideas, and questions on specific issues are gathered and presented to the president.” He added that the podcast allows the president to explain government policies, share his views, and provide updates on progress in relevant sectors.
The President’s Office stated that the initiative aims to improve public awareness and understanding of national policies and priorities while promoting meaningful dialogue between the government and the public.
