Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, announced that the conversion of the GDh. Thinadhoo Islamic Center into a specialised campus is scheduled for next Tuesday.

The center will be officially handed over to the Islamic University of Maldives, as stated by Minister Shaheem.

In a move to enhance Islamic education in the region, the city of Thinadhoo allocated its Islamic Center to serve as a dedicated campus for the courses of the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM).

The initiative aims to offer educational opportunities for students seeking to deepen their understanding of Islamic knowledge within the Maldives. Minister Shaheem highlighted that the Thinadhoo Islamic Center will play a pivotal role in promoting Islamic civilization and culture.

Established in 2018, the Thinadhoo Islamic Center, the first of its kind outside the capital city of Male’, underwent significant renovations this year, led by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The two-storey mosque boasts a capacity of 1,000 people, a hall accommodating 500 individuals, four classrooms, an office, and a library.
