Third Batch of National Service Initial Training Course Graduates

Trainees from the third National Service Initial Training Course officially graduated yesterday at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Composite Training Centre in Lh. Maafilaafushi. 

Minister of Defence and National Service, Hassan Rasheed, presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

MNDF said the 14-week programme ran from June 8 to September 19, 2026, bringing together 352 participants from 115 islands across the Maldives. Out of the initial intake, 341 recruits successfully completed the course, including 62 female and 279 male graduates, with an average age of 18. 

Upon completion, all graduates were awarded a Certificate 3 in Civic Education and Leadership. During the ceremony, National Service Training Centre Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shahid, administered the official oath to the graduating class. 

According to the MNDF, the recruits completed an intensive training programme covering leadership, citizenship, Maldivian nationalism, language proficiency and Islamic studies, alongside practical training in physical fitness, self-defence, firefighting and first aid.

The training was delivered jointly by MNDF instructors and technical specialists from key government ministries.

The National Service Programme, introduced under the vision of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, aims to develop self-reliant, resilient and civic-minded Maldivian youth with strong moral values, physical well-being and a commitment to national service.
