The government has added a third category to the rules governing the “Binveriyaa” special scheme under its housing programme, expanding eligibility for applicants seeking flats and land through the Housing for All policy.
The Ministry of Housing announced that applications under the newly added category will be accepted through the portal established for the flat-and-land application programme. The application period is scheduled to open at 11:00 am on Sunday, May 10, and close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 31.
Under the revised rules, the “Binveriyaa” special scheme now includes three categories. The first category covers individuals who submitted joint applications under the Binveriyaa scheme and received land. The second category applies to those who received a flat under a previous government housing scheme and were unable to apply for Binveriyaa.
The newly introduced third category applies to individuals who submitted applications for flats after relinquishing land obtained under the Binveriyaa scheme, as well as those who submitted joint applications for flats or land.
According to the ministry, applications under the third category may be submitted either by a single applicant who had previously filed an individual application or by all parties involved in a joint application who wish to relinquish the land and apply separately for flats.
The government has also extended the deadline for submitting applications for land and flats under the Housing for All policy until May this year.
The Ministry of Housing initially opened applications for the first housing scheme under the Housing for All policy on January 18 last year. Under the programme, the government plans to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 plots of land.
Of the 7,900 flats planned, 4,000 are designated for residents of Male’ City, 1,500 for non-residents, and 2,400 for special categories.
