Three Arrested in Villimalé Drug Operation

Three individuals were arrested in a drug operation conducted in Villimalé by Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

The operation, carried out jointly with the Drug Enforcement Department, was launched following received intelligence. The suspects were identified as Ibrahim Imad, 30, from Th. Gaadhiffushi / Canaryge; Mohammed Simrah, 43, from K. Malé / Ma. Windstar 1; and Salah Shihab, 45, from GDh. Rathafandhoo / Zamaaneeege.

They were apprehended and searched on 9 March, during which suspected drugs with a provisional weight of 57.78 grams were recovered. Additionally, more than MVR 241,000 was seized from the suspects, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Upon being presented in court for remand hearings, Simrah and Shihab were remanded in custody for 15 days while Imad was released. The case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for appeal.

Police have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
