Two Arrested In Counter-Narcotics Raids In Laamu Atoll

The police have arrested two suspects in separate counter-narcotics operations conducted last week in Dhanbidhoo and Gan of Laamu Atoll.

According to police, both arrests took place last Thursday. The first suspect, a 60-year-old man from Gan, was detained following a joint operation by Gan Police and the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence Department. Officers seized 5.36 grams of drugs and equipment believed to be used for drug peddling during a search of his residence. He was remanded in custody for 10 days on Friday.

In a separate operation, a 55-year-old man from Laamu Mundoo was arrested at Dhanbidhoo harbour while carrying 46.32 grams of drugs. The operation was carried out jointly by Dhanbidhoo Police and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence. He was remanded in custody for five days on Friday.

The police have confirmed that investigations into both cases are ongoing.
